ITV wouldn't exist without commercials,so you watch itv and you watch commercials end of story. They are a major part of the tv watching experience, and the ads can create as much discussion as the programmes.
The meerkat ads are a miniature programme in them selves, now everybody qutes "simples" to me virtually every day.
Sometimes we get completely sick of an advert recently this this the go compare ads,so the poor guy is shown being attacked with an anti tank weapon and as footballs kicked at him.
It is true many of the adverts are better than the programmes, they have more time and money to throw at them and control the programmes airing time etc.
There are some ads that are really cheap and tacky and would put off anybody buying what they are trying to sell, obviously done on a budget and just damages the companies image.
The appearance of an advert is timed to coincide with a particular piece of very interesting part of the programme, and it never picks up exactly where it left off especially if you have watched the film separately on DVD.
God forbid that the BBC start showing adverts, that will be the last straw
